Travis Noland was the 6th coach in Tuscola football history. He is the 2nd winningest coach in Tuscola football history with a winning percentage of .739, only behind Steve Hodgin. Noland was a graduate of Pisgah High School, though he led Tuscola to 2 straight victories over his alma mater. In college, Noland played quarterback for Appalachian State University where he majored in Industrial Technology. After leaving Appalachian, he earned his Physical Education degree at Mars Hill College. He started his coaching career as an assistant at Cherokee, A.C. Reynolds, and Pisgah high schools. Noland's accepted his first head coaching job at Erwin High School in 1998. Before taking over at Erwin, the Warriors had gone 9-83 in the previous 9 years with 5 winless seasons. Noland rebuilt the warriors, leading them to the playoffs in his second season and to their only conference championship in 2000. In 2003, Noland returned to his home county when he accepted the head coaching job at Tuscola. Noland's goal was to rebuild a program that had never had a losing season until 1998, yet had slid into 5 consecutive ones. Noland succeeded, as he led Tuscola to a 9-2 record in his first season and playoff appearances in 2003 and 2004. Noland is currently the head coach at Stephens County High in Toccoa, GA where he has made 3 trips to the state playoffs. In his career, Noland has helped 22 athletes advance to the college level.
