Joe Caldwell was the 3rd, and one of the most respected coaches in Tuscola football history. He is the only coach to lead Tuscola to a state championship (1972), the first to win a conference championship, and the first to win a Haywood County championship. Caldwell finished his career at Tuscola with 44 wins, 21 losses, and 4 ties. He ranks as the 3rd winningest coach in Tuscola football history with a .667 winning percentage. Caldwell was recently recognized at C.E. Weatherby Stadium on September 19th, 2008 in a ceremony commemorating the 1972 State Championship team.
